From the recordings Everything I've Got and How Much More Can We Take?
“How Much More Can We Take?” came straight from the years when I was grinding 80–100 hour weeks, thinking that if I just pushed a little harder, things would get better. But the truth was… the deadlines weren’t life-or-death. The pressure wasn’t real. It was manufactured. And the only thing it created was burnout, not just for me, but for everyone around me.
I watched people sacrifice sleep, weekends, family, and their health just to be told we needed to “step it up” or our jobs might be in jeopardy. No raise guaranteed. No appreciation. Just more responsibilities piled on top of an already impossible workload.
This song is my protest against that toxic cycle. It’s my way of calling out the fake “work–life balance” companies love to advertise but rarely deliver. “How Much More Can We Take?” is for everyone who’s ever been pushed past their limit by a system that treats humans like machines and then questions their performance when they break.
I wrote this track to say: enough is enough. We deserve better than a culture that celebrates burnout. And I hope this song helps push the conversation and the change forward.
Lyrics
In the land of no choice
Chasing dreams we’ve lost our voice
Constant pressure every day
Is there another way?
Paper mountains high and steep
Promises we couldn't keep
Blinders on, we chase the prize
We’re wasting all our prime
Clocking in, we’re left behind
Grinding hard but losing time
We’re chasing dreams we’ll never find
Trading sleep for overtime
There’s no rest for the weary
We bend so far, we nearly break
Oh, there’s no rest for the weary
How much more can we take?
Deadlines shift, they slip away
We miss the mark again today
The harder fought, the more we strain
The more we circle round again
What if we dropped this frantic race?
Walked with a gentle pace
Would purpose shine beyond the grind
Or do we fear what we’ll find?
Waking up to fall in line
Building dreams not yours, not mine
The minutes fade, the days unwind
Trading life for overtime
There’s no rest for the weary
We bend so far, we nearly break
Oh, there’s no rest for the weary
How much more can we take?
We’ll pick a path untold
Sail forward, strong and bold
Take the reigns and draw the line
Escape the grand design
There’s no rest for the weary
We bend so far, we nearly break
Oh, there’s no rest for the weary
How much more can we take?
Oh, there’s no rest for the weary
We bend so far, we nearly break
Oh, there’s no rest for the weary
How much more can we take?
